iPad 3 With A6 Processor Not Possible Until June 2012?
According to an analyst at The Linley Group, a chip consultancy firm, Apple's A6 system-on-chip won't make it to the iPad 3 until July 2012. The A6 processor, successor to the 1 GHz dual-core A5 chip presently powers iPad 2, is expected to power future version of the iPad and iPhone.
We had earlier heard reports of the A6 chips being produced on a trial basis by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC).

competition, finally, nice

"Since the release of the iPad, Apple has maintained a yearly upgrade cycle for these processors" ... so, that would be a 'pattern' derived from two data points? Bit too much hyped over-analysis going on, I think.

I would rather buy my second iPad with it's "full blown" capability with he A6 rather than a temporary patch. Till then my Original Classic will suffice, and that's the main reason why I said pass to the iPad 2.

Agree, but you'd expect Apple to not have the same processor for the next iPad. So its not just analysis based on very few data points, but expectations + competition.

This puts an end to the iPad 3 alongside iPhone 5 rumour

Analysis based on expectation?!!o_O?You are really putting the 'anal' in 'analysis' there, as in, 'pulled out from'...

Steve Jobs needs to grow up.He needs top notch semi conductor manufacturers. The Arm architecture, without going into details, is a poor design, certainly no competitor to the technology thats currently exists. Arm is a sucess by means of politics and petty minds. The Arm needs a great deal of innovation for it to perform at levels anywhere near a laptop, thats a pretty low bar considering the low power to performance of Intel chips. Having said this, I am cheering for nVidia and even Qualcomm to keep up a fast pace over the next 5 years.Apple should be good at collecting the best technology, not trying to invent it.
