Apple released their much anticipated fifth generation iPhone at the Let's Talk iPhone event yesterday.
Along with the launch of iPhone 4S, Apple also introduced an 8GB iPhone 4, which will be available for $99 and announced that iPhone 3GS will be available for free with a two-year contract.

Family has 2 iphone4's, 1 ipad, 1 imac, given I can sell our current iphone4's for more than the cost of the 4S, and I get better camera and more good stuff, seems like a no brainer, write it up, put on Craigslist, count the 20's, then off to the Apple store. Then maybe next year or so do again, sell the 2 4S' and get 2 new iphone5's, results in free HW cost and always have the latest phone. Seems like a no brainer to me. I like free HW costJAS in Tucson

3GS and 4 with 8 Gb of storage? What happened to 16 Gb and 32 Gb models? Also black only for 3GS? I owned a 16 Gb White 3GS in the past!

Wow so lame the iPhone 4S lasts up to 200 hours on standby? That to me is iPhone 4S is worse than previous models. No thank you. iPhone 4S should go into a trash and Apple should rethink what they should do.

iPhone 4 16GB and 32GB models are discontinued, white iPhone 3GS was discontinued last year when Apple launched iPhone 4.

I read in the table for the standby time:- 4s: up to 200h- 4: up to 300h- 3gs: up to 300hSo, indeed, the standby time of the iPhone 4s is 33% shorter than the standby time of the iPhone 4 and 3GS. Or in other words, the standby time of the iPhone 4 and 3gs is 50% longer than the one of the iPhone 4s.

I've said that 512mb was enough ram for the iphone 4, but I'm interested to see if the 4s will have 1gig of ram. 512mb just doesn't seem like it would be enough to handle the new features.

What does a new design get you? Why incure the cost of retooling the case when it gains you nothing? When does a phone become too thin (don't want it folding in half while playing an intense game)? How is more speed not an upgrade? Will a larger screen with less pixel density, be more readable? How many of you go over 200 hours before recharging your phone? It appears that the 4s ( just got news that Steve Jobs has died) will be doing more during idle time.

I only wish my phone battery lasted that long have to charge it mid day a lot...... back when I had a palm it would last 2 days before a charge would be needed

But your palm didn't do all the things the iPhone does and if your worried a out battery life u r nuts the charge cables are dirt cheap keep one in ur car , work desk, work car ...

I have a question: We all know that the white iphone 4 is thicker than the black one; but what about the white iphone 4S? Is it as slim as the black one or is it like the white iphone 4? I can't find this information on apple's website (of course they are hiding that fact!)Thank you for answering :)

Yes I am planning to upgrade on sprint but I'm not in my two year upgrade period so I'm waiting to see how much it will cost, not on upgrade price.

i have an ipod shuffle of 2 gb and iphone 3gs of 32 gb and i read from net iphone is available in white colour too and also in 16 gb
