Samsung And Google Delay Launch Of Next Generation Android-Based Smartphone Out Of Respect For Steve Jobs
Samsung and Apple may have been at each others throats in the last few months, but in a touching gesture, Google and Samsung have canceled their big media event next week out of respect of Steve Jobs who passed away on October 5th.
They were widely expected to launch the first smartphone based on the next generation Android operating system, dubbed "Ice Cream Sandwich".
Google and Samsung made the following announcement earlier today:

Wow, That's amazing.
-
Nice to see the respect from these companies.
-
Very true, they understand that he is the reason all this competition exists and without him they would be worth less.
-
Sounds delicious! I can see some M&M type commercials now .. sweet in the hand, but doesn't melt in your pocket :PIt's also nice to see this sort of stuff tho .. provided there isn't some hidden agenda we're not being told..

Get real, Google's worth billions from Ad revenue, and Samsung has been making a killing in consumer electronics long before the smart phone. Let stick to valid arguments please.

They cancelled their media even because the recent passing of Steve Jobs combined with the release of the 4S would outshine and overpower any media event they held. Which would cause for a severe lost of interest and lower sales. They will of course wait until this passes, but I wouldn't be so quick to believe they held off out of respect to a fallen hero. They are competitors and this is a business...they want the best possible sales percentage they can get.Just my thought.

That is exactly what i thought. Out of respect? Cmon guys!
-
Yes folks.
-
i wonder if they'll drop the legal battle to block sales of the 4s in some countries out of respect. (respect of customer choice.) not a hope in hell corporates only respect money. this is just a p.r. stunt and tactical move to stave off a disasterous product launch in the wake of apples little marketing coup.
-
Would just one thing ... Even the biggest corporation are run by mere humans, and humans have effections.
-
The postponed the event because they weren't ready, plain and simple.
-
Apple would have announced iPhone 5 if Eric would have died!!
-
What a load...of poop.
-
"fallen hero" lulzy
-
lets hope Apple buries the hatchet and just allows competition to go forth, imitation is a form of flattery, Apple does not need anymore money, they're already the market leader. Lets hope they can get along and get back to business

Apples iPhone announce was considered rubbish by most, so I doubt the delay was because of fears of being out shined. I think the agenda is to look like a human company especially since apple has looked like a machine. Top that with all the news of Steve Jobs and so much attention on Apple, it's just better to let the storm pass. I just wonder how long they will delay it as I'm looking to a new phone since the 4s does not interest me at all!

I already heard the iPhone 4s is selling like hot pockets. 200,000 in twelve hours. That's serious
-
It was never meant to be an argument.
-
@Grime Please troll somewhere else. Everyone knows that his was not an argument and it is true. There would have not been any innovation or the technology that we have today. You just can't accept that the rivals are respecting Steve Jobs and what he has created. And you give fanboy-ism a bad name.
-
wow i respect Samsung And Google great compainesmuhaaaaaaaaaaaa 10000000000000000 million hugies
-
The intern or Executive who came up with the idea was smart. Great move. Yeah its out of respect, but it was also not to look like a bunch of heartless d*cks. Which would Yield poor sales due to bad media from looking like a bunch of heartless d*cks. Business is business baby
-
Maybe they didnt release the new hardware because Apple hasent released there iPhone 5.Taking in consideration that the new one would be same design as the new apple phone as they where sued for.You can't copycat something that hasn't released so that means building your own popularity, something there not famous of doing so well

How is not going forward with a launch respectful to Jobs? Business is business, Steve would have understood. Is Apple delaying the iPhone 4S launch? Why should Google and Samsung delay theirs?Don't get me wrong, I think it's a nice gesture, I just think that it's misplaced.
