Hello,On Step 6, I'm not taken to the prompt to set up my iPad 1 either from a previous backup or setup as a new iPad. Once I select the iOS5 ipsw file, it goes straight to restore and sets it up as a new iPad. Is there something else I can try? I'd rather not reinstall all my apps from the App Store after the JB.Thanks!

As soon as the iPad is restored with iOS 5, it will reboot, after it reboots, it should show up again under Devices in iTunes with an option to set up your iPad as a new iPad or Restore from backup. There is no reason why you shouldn't see these options in iTunes. Unless you are looking at your iPad and not iTunes.

You were right. I was expecting the backup prompt to appear before the iOS 5 install began. The prompt came up after the iOS 5 restore as you noted. Thanks!

Jailbreak worked great. After completion, I ran Cydia and tried to install stuff from cydia but after the download/install is complete, I click to reboot my phone but it just gets stuck on the apple icon after it restarts. Ive tried to restore and then jail break again but the issue keeps reoccurring. wondering if anyone else is experiencing this or if I am doing anything wrong.

Its a tethered jailbreak. use redsn0w to boot into your ipad. Please read the guide thoroughly.

Im assuming the **** repository must be manually added as it always has. I'm sure after you do that you can install **** and carry on as usual please google "**** repository" and read that, instead of making this guy write the 10 billionth tutorial on such a well covered area:)

after installing every time i switch off the phone it needs to just boot for open why?

i jailbroke my ipad, and cydia is installed...so i started downloading apps but when i went to my online bank statement, all the apps appear as "bought" apps so of course they are charging me for everyone of those apps..what im i doing wrong?

Angie, did you install ****? if you didn't and went through the normal app store then you bought all the apps, nothing you can do about it unfortunately as you have already bought them.

i never got the "finish" button...so i let cydia update and then afterwards...it keeps crashingi dont know what is wrong...

i followed the whole process and completed it successfully. Cydia was working fine. After I restarted my IPAD1, cydia doesnt launch and neither does Safari. What did i do wrong?

when i restore my ipad1 as step 5-6 says it takes 32 hours!! so i canceld it can i just skip it??
