iPhone 4S Image Sensor Manufactured By Sony
Apple's new iPhone 4S sports a vastly improved 8-megapixel camera.
Shortly after iFixit's breakdown of the iPhone 4S, ChipWorks got to work and found out something new: the 8MP image sensor was manufactured by Sony.
ChipWorks tore down the iPhone 4S to find out who made the 8-megapixel CMOS image sensor in their unit. Instead of using the normal method of using fuming sulfuric acid, they used an infrared microscope to take this picture:

Maybe Apple gives specs to them, which they cant use for their own products.

Ah. So this is why my pictures have that Sony CyberShot over saturated color look with HDR enabled on the phone. Glad I can disable it. Photos looks bad with something red in it with HDR enabled.
