Whats the point??? We already have free ringtones with iTunes. All you have to do is convert the mp3 to ACC(with iTunes) and then change the extension to m4a.

If you dont want to use any iPhone hacks to put a ringtone on your iPhone for free, use these simple steps.

    1. open garageband and edit a 30 second clip of your song
    2. send the song to iTunes with the share drop-down menu
    3. convert the song to AAC file with the right-click menu.
    4. drag the song to your desktop
    5. change the .m4a label on the song to .m4r
    6. open the song and it will appear in you ringtones section of iTunes
    7. now just sync your iPhone and go to sound settings on your iPhone
    8. find the new song in the custom ringtone section on your iphone
    9. get a call and hear you FREE ringtone blast through your speakers!!!

Those steps do not work with updated itunes. Changing the file name to .m4r does nothing for me.

    Yes it does.
You need to go into your folder options first and click the box to display Know file extentions. That way you will see the.m4a lable.
Windows will then ask are you sure you want to change that file type.
