i like iPhones better

Thats incredible how small of a difference there is!!

First off, the body of the 5dmii is only $2200. Second, the fixed 50 1.4 is about $400, so all in all, you have a $2600 rig, not over $3k. Also, you're comparing video, which is a secondary use of an incredible camera. With the availability of lenses for the 5d, and the one that has been chosen, this is somewhat comparable. Put on a 24-70 f/2.8, drop the ISO and the aperture, and there's no comparison. Just my two cents here, but I own a photography business, so I hope it's worth more than just two cents.

We went with the pricing on this one at Amazon:http://www.amazon.com/Canon-EOS-5D-Mark-II/dp/B001G5ZTMM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1318958108&sr=8-2But we have updated the post based on your inputs. Thanks, appreciate it.

Amazon pricing is standard $2399 for the body. Maybe you saw the kit package for over $3000

Yeah guys, you picked the one with the L lens and 24-105 zoom, which is a $900 lens. Here's what you should have grabbed:http://www.amazon.com/Canon-EOS-5D-Mark-II/dp/B001G5ZTLS/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1318960416&sr=1-1One month ago is was $2299. Here's the lens:http://www.amazon.com/Canon-Standard-Medium-Telephoto-Cameras/dp/B00009XVCZ/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1318960494&sr=1-1It's a great lens, but it's no wonder they chose it to do the comparison Had they chosen this lens, it would have killed the iPhone.http://www.amazon.com/Canon-24-70mm-2-8L-Standard-Cameras/dp/B00009R6WT/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1318960559&sr=1-1

But hey, you guys still rock.

Great comparison. The difference is noticeable, but still how close it is with the price difference and the features and size of phone, wow.

Ok, first off, there is no audio comparison made. Video is only as good as the audio that accompanies it, which is something that a lot of people forget to consider when comparing video cameras.I find there to be to be several issues with the 4S video. There is a lot more motion blur during scenes with faster motion. In the darker areas, things disappear faster than with the Canon.I would also like to see both videos posted at full quality, there appears to be more pixelation on the iPhone video, but it is difficult to tell when the quality of both videos appears to have been reduced for posting online.

Dont let online video fool you, even if you download the vimeo sample, it is still just a compression of the original, at critical level the 5D will blow it away (i mean quality wise, of course not workflow and functionality where no one has a doubt that 5d is in a different galaxy)Nevertheless, this video makes me want to get the 4s more then any others, amazing.

You people are all knuckle heads this was not trying to say that you could or should use the iPhone instead of the canon it just shows you with a comparable lens and settings that a "phone/camera/video recorder/Internet surfing/personal assistant..." can match up very impressively with an over $2000. camera. Yes we know you can add this or that to the canon that will make it no comparison. But I'll take the tiny little iPhone that just happens to be with me everywhere and cost me 1/5 the price. That to me is no comparison.

Don't get too excited. These conditions are optimal for the iPhone. The difference will be much greater if you shoot the video in low light or studio lighting. Not only that but this panning motion doesn't expose the bad autofocus and poor refresh rate of the iPhone. So yea the iPhone can be use as a decent video camera but let's compare what is comparable.

100% agree with you.
-
Another one that still doesn't get it wow u guys really are slow.
-
wow, cool but one question: why is the big-ad-screen (at 3:45) doing like this? and why does this only happen on the iphone??
-
This has to do with frame rates, the Canon is displaying at the same rate as the electronic billboard. It is similar to when you take video of a TV or your monitors.
-
ok, thanks ;)

Amazing how well cameras the iPhone has!
-
lets see how the photos come!
-
-
the only thing i notice is that iphone has this redness in surrounding.
-
maybe three cents, but thats really about it!!

I don't think anyone is trying to say that the iPhone is as good as the Canon 5D. They are just show a side-by-side comparison to show that it is quite impressive for a camera on a phone. As to your point about video being a secondary use of the 5D, you fail to mention/realize that the camera on a smart phone is so far down the list that it is usually an afterthought. You then go on to say that the 5D would be beyond comparison with a better lens but you are missing the point again. This is simply showing that the phone takes pretty impressive videos and photos with a lens that is probably less than a centimeter in diameter. Not that it is better than the 5D with a very expensive lens.

For non proffesional video and photos, just make sure that your iphone is fully charged and enjoy the memories that your iphone can capture.... and one more thing... i sure want to have an untetherd iphone 4s.... ty

I think light is the same for both, i agree low light lenses would be better for cannon. but still when compared in same situation the results are amazing..
