iOS 5 Tip: How To Put Newsstand In a Folder
One of the major features of iOS 5 that Apple had showcased at the WWDC 2011 Keynote was Newsstand, which essentially organizes your magazine and newspaper app subscriptions in one place to access them easily and quickly.
However, since it is a pre-installed app, it cannot be deleted if you don't want to use it and in case of Newsstand since it also behaves more like a folder, you can't hide it in a folder.

However, if you do put it in your folder, it will not work and it will crash and reboot. No other option.
-
I mean i've done it and it crashed so no point posting this.
-
Yeah, that's what we have also mentioned towards the end. It's just a cool trick (because we didn't know it was possible) if you want to hide it away.
-
Wow, some people can't read.

I did this the day i updated to ios 5 they say it takes around 7 attempts to get it, which is true but a good tip! If you do it too quick it looks like you havnt done it but you actually have, the folder will have the two apps in the folder but no newsstand but when you click home button the newsstand icon will have been put in, but also like they say, do not openen it from folder,

Its worth posting for those of us who will never use newsstand and don't want it littering up our screen.
-
Its so simple, really!

Thanks for the tip, worked from the first try (i do not use newsstand, so i don't like it on my screen, wasting space)
-
Sweet!!!
-
It actually works!
-
It really works! Thanks a lot.

Awesome! I've hated that thing. Had it sitting on a page all by itself at the end of my regular app pages lol. Thanks guys!
-
Every other app can go into a folder but apple made the news stand app different or did they do it on perpise.
-
Let's me try it... For me Newsstand is didn't needed
-
From my experience, it doesn't work unless you are creating the folder and moving the icons around on the home page. I tried it on the second page to no avail.
-
took a few tries but got it.
