Sprint And Apple Working On iPhone 4S Data Speed Issue
Many Sprint users have been complaining about slow data speeds since the iPhone 4S launch on October 14th.
Last week, Sprint said that though it is monitoring the performance of the 3G network, they had only received a small number of complaints of slow data speeds from their iPhone 4S customers.
But The Next Web reports that according to an internal email that was sent to Sprint representatives, there definitely seems to be some issue:

well sprint sucks, and this pretty much proves it.

My phone is working great here in Kansas City as two or three days ago I'm getting speeds of 1 to 2 Mb per second on my downloads and 500 to 700 kB per second on my uploads! Its great and unlimited!!
-
No problems for me here in Springfield, ma and surrounding areas, it's normal speed for Sprint here

No problems here. 7.5 down and 1.8 up.
-
7.5 Download speed. That is a lie from the apple tree.
-
I get 7.2 down on ATT. Can't speak for sprint. But ATT 3g is better than Sprint 3g for speed.
-
no problems here in burlington, ma or somerville, ma either, holla!
-
Where are you in the country that you're getting 7.2 MB per second download speeds? I'm in Chicago and can get 3.5 max on a good day.

sigh. iphone hacks. Ive been following you guys for a while. Always had to deal with these ads in the worst places. Theres an ad on the top of your page that takes about 500px of space from your site. Not to mention your news is generally old. The design of the site isnt that great. I dunno. Just felt like ranting. Small constructive criticism. Ease up on the ads as they become intrusive if anything.

Warning sprint iPhone users, bail now while u can. After ur 14 days return window, y'ill be slap with etf if u wanna jump ship, because sprint 3G was always a crap, and if u really believe in their pr stunt that they have a fix, u will be waiting past ur return window and then u r all screwed. I'm pulling down 6.17 dl 1.37 ul on my AT&T iPhone 4 here in NYC. Put that in ur pipe and smoke sprint.

Columbus Ohio. Keep in mind a lot of that depends on congestion of the tower you are connected to and how much bandwidth they pulled to that tower. Results will vary some between towers.

And just so people dont think I am making it up....http://www.speedtest.net/iphone/159122519.png

Cincinnati Ohio I get 7.2 and 1.65Much fast than b4, but it does depend on time of day
-
Agreed! There ain't no way a weak ass Sprint phone gets those types of speed! Hell their 4g wimax can't even hit those speeds! Maybe he meant KBs! Ha!
-
SO they admit the issue is indeed there.

5.98 DL -1.14UL. Im in southen california on att..... And this is during mid day, maybe more in late evening.

Sprint couldn't pay me to be in their network. I used to have sprint, and I remember that I have to leave my phone on the window, to even get a signal, and when a call comes in I have to stand by the window for the duration of the call, which would last for about a minute r two before it cuts off. Sprint sucks big time.

in Phx, AZ iphone 4S, on ATT getting 6.2M down and 1.6 up. On previous iPhone 4 1 month ago speeds were 3M down and 725k up
-
I used to get 3-5mbps down on my iphone 4 here in the East Bay (California). Since the release of the 4s, network speeds have dropped to 1-2mbps on both the 4 and the 4s.
-
Over the past year or so, my signal's dropped too. From a consistent 4-5 bars to 2-3 bars inside my house. Here's my speedtest just taken minutes ago.http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/neosum/3703ad4c.jpg

0.25 I get about .25 MB per second where I live in East Palo Alto California that's the San Francisco Bay area

THis dkan guy is full of it. Why u don't show what carrier ur doing the speed test on. Because it's impossible to get that on sprint 3G when the CDMA network tops out at 3.1 Mbps. Hahahaha. What a scam. Lol.
-
If you look at my post it says I am getting this speed on ATT. You are correct, you cant get this speed on Sprint because it is cdma... You cant get this 3g speed on verizon either... because it is cdma.

Bran spanking new Sprint iPhone 4S user.I'm getting 251ms ping, 10.4 kB/s dl (.17 Mb/s) and 49.6 kB/s up. Orlando FL at UCF 4 bars of reception or ~-83 dBm.Furthermore, I was getting ~250 kB/s with Cellular South, but because I moved to Orlando I had to switch to Sprint.Honestly I'm really sick of the slow speeds. Also, 3G speeds are considered to be above 2 megabits per second (Mb/s) which is 256 kB/s. Obviously I am not getting anywhere near that number which begs to question why does it say I'm getting 3G and not 1x?

I just purchased my iPhone 4s today via Sprint switching from Tmobile and my 3G speed issues were apparent soon after using my phone for the first go around. I am disappointed with how long it has been taking to download apps and music via iCloud. Speeds were still slow even after connecting to WiFi. I really hope Sprint recovers promptly.

Average Sprint 3G speeds in Raleigh,NC. You will miss 4G download speeds for large gaming apps. Can't wait to JB & change these icons, barrel roll as well!
-
Actually, Sprint doesn't suck (I've been a customer for 8 years and never had a dropped call, AT&T users), but yes, the iPhone 4 data speed is SUPER slow.
-
I have sprint and i have no issues wat so ever speed is good all os well i had sprint since 2002 and never had issues with service i think it the phones u buy go big or go home
