iPhone 4S Vs iPhone 4 Speed Test: Boot Up Time, App Launching Speed, Web Browsing Performance & Gaming Performance
iPhone 4S comes with Apple's faster dual core A5 system on chip, so it is no doubt faster than iPhone 4, which is powered by the previous generation A4 chip. According to Apple, A5 chip delivers up to two times more power and up to seven times faster graphics.

I've noticed a big difference in battery life between iphone 4 and 4S. My old Iphone 4 used to last a 2 days with moderate usage with location services off, wifi off but 3G on. My Iphone 4S lasts almost 5 days with heavy usage, location services on, wifi on, 3G on.Definitely a big improvement to the old iphone 4!

Hey, great comparison video, showed a lot of differences. But one thing, when you were doing the Speed.net app test, the iPhone 4 was connected to a different server in Washington, whereas the iPhone 4S was connected to Philadelphia. I don't know if this would make a difference but though it should be noted.

The one thing I'm still confused on is processor speed. Every site I've been to says the 4S is an A5 chip underclocked to 800 Mghz but when I launch system info (app downloaded from the app store) it shows my processor being 1 Ghz. Is this just the app reporting specs based off of what it's reading for the chip or is that the actual clock speed?Sincerely Confused

I was thinking the same thing, and yes it does matter because I run the speed test all the time from the same area on different towers and my results are always different.

New battery vs old battery?

From the specs of geekbench it's underclocked to 716. Why is everyone saying 800?! It's closer to 700 than 800.
-
I'm confused as well as the system info app on my phone is reporting 1 ghz.

In the video, he says iphone 4S is a bit yellowish? Wrong. My iphone 4 has a yellow screen. My iPhone 4S has a cool blue hue.

My 4S is significantly faster than the 4 in all aspects and I get 5.3 MBPS download speeds over the 3G network. Still, there is something not advertised: apps (native and third-party) keep crashing for some reason on the 4S, but do not crash on earlier phones running the same OS. I had thought it was just my phone, but a friend of mine experiences the same problem. Any solutions?

My 4S's battery only lasts a day with heavy use, having all services enabled, e.g., bluetooth, wifi, etc. Of course, I literally use my iPhone almost all day. I would say I get about 10 hours of wifi internet out of the battery, 5 hours on 3G, and 7 hours of video playback.

Using the paid version of that app, my iphone 4S reads as 800 MHz...
-
I took a screen shot with the free version and it's coming up 1 Ghzhttp://tinypic.com/r/k4b8sk/7

Big deal for me was the death grip in iPhone 4 antenna system. I am much happier with iPhone 4s antenna system. I get full bars in my house :)

The Speed Test was invalid; The iPhone 4 was using a completely different speed test server than the 4S - you should know better!Set them both to the same server then run the tests again!!
-
Lol good point tony
-
One SpeedTest.net server was in PA, the other in DC! No wonder the two speeds were so different. What's funny is that we see the same thing at work; the 4S always chooses a different server that the 4's do!

REALLY?? Did you guys run out of useful info to post?? Whats next 386 machine and and in i7??
-
I do not care, i buy a new one and sold for 850, and I'm happy for that :) $$ thank you iphone

This test is non-sense. I'd rather see how 4S struggles in iMovie like iPhone 4, cause adding one clip for the whole bunch of clips in iMovie on iPhone 4 was a real pain, cause of you have around 50-100 clips, it could take arounf 5 minutes to recache them and editing movie longer then 5 minutes was a headache.

iPhone 4S is much faster no doubt, but what about iPad 2 vs iPhone 4S? I think iPad 2 is faster.
-
I would agree too - coz I think the iPad deals with a lot smaller screen resolution than the iPhone 4S (despite the large screen size) so that would take a huge deal in performance. Plus, iPhone 4S would have some part of its CPU used on phone-related services and the ipad wouldn't (aside from location services).

When you were testing the internet speeds you had the iphone 4 testing speed dling and uploading from washington, and the 4s from philedelphia...the test results in that case are flawed.
-
We did our own little speed test with the 3G involved as well. They were all using the same Wifi internet and the 3G, weirdly, did weirdly better. Not the most scientific of tests we know and we hope to go back to it and do a proper test soon.http://www.liquidproductions.co.uk/1480/iphone-3gs-v-iphone-4-v-iphone-4s
