SemiTether Jailbreak Updated; Incorporates New Mobile Substrate; Much More Stable
Last weekend, BigBoss had released a new package on Cydia called SemiTether, which allowed users to reboot their tethered jailbroken iOS 5 device without the need to connect it to the computer.
However, BigBoss's solution had some limitations and number of users reported issues after using it. BigBoss has released a new version of SemiTether (v0.91), which incorporates the new mobile substrate by Jay Freeman a.k.a saurik that should make the semi tethered mode more stable.

Got this about 30mins ago, and was able to install **** as well as ****.Respring is much faster, and reboot works. Also includes an option on how to have mobile safari working after a reboot.

Did you get it from hackulo.us? Make sure you're using their latest ****.

Yes it does, I have both installed, from the hackulo.us repo. And it loads, and works.Direct from http://thebigboss.org/ "Also, with an update from MyWi author and **** team, we should be compatible with those, too."

I'm sorry if this seems like a newb question, but will my gevey sim still work if I reserve the baseband? Because I hear conflicting stories and you mentioned that you're unlocked with gevey sim on iOS 5.

Suggesting the work Bigboss puts into helping us common folk is useless is why OGT got the comment he did. Dev_team and others are working hard to get us untether. BigBoss gave us a very valuable tool in the meantime. Calling it useless was trolling in it's own right. You suggesting I troll is equally the same. Please review many other topics within this forum and you will see my "troll" to "helping others" comments are about 20:1 ration with help being the greater portion of the two.

@ OGT ... A helpful piece of advice.If the only reason you jailbreak is to pirate software, then you don't need to jailbreak. a helpful little tool called iResign and getting a developers certificate for your device will allow you to install whatever apps you want without the jailbreak. That will solve all your issues. However if you do use Cydia apps, unfortunately this will not help. Bigboss is working on resolving all the issues. Safari does work now with the semi tether. And if your mail is web based like gmail or something, then you can still access it through safari.Of course all services will be restored when you get home and run "just boot" with redsnow.Its not perfect, but its getting better. People should applaud the work Bigboss is doing while we do wait patiently for the untethered solution.

At the moment no, as there is no IOS 5 jailbreak for iPad 2If your iPad 2 is still factory at 4.X (i forget the numbers and too lazy right now to look them up) as long as its NOT the latest which i think was 4.3.10 you still maybe able to jailbreak ipad2 using jailbreak me.com . A big maybe on all parts. Dev_team is working on an IPAD2 Iphone4S iOS5 jailbreak.

i did the redsn0w 9.9b7 on my iphone 4 with ios 5 update. works great got the cydia going and winterboard. cool. ive heard you can run greenpois0n over it and it will become a untethered. can i run greenpois0n and it work to become untethered or do i have to wait for them to come out with one when they release a permanent solution like for iphone 4s and ipad2

Yes, the Gevey Ultra sim does work on iOS 5 as long as you preserve your old baseband (04.10.01).

No, running Greenpois0n over it will not make it untethered.
