Apple: Siri Only Works On iPhone 4S; Currently Have No Plans to Support Older Devices
A report over the weekend claimed that Apple was testing Siri on non-iPhone 4S devices.
We've some disappointing news if it had got our hopes high as 9 to 5 Mac reports that Apple is not planning to bring Siri to older iOS devices.
When a developer asked Apple about the chances of Siri coming to older non-iPhone 4S devices, he received the following response:

Too bad.
-
Roll on someone releasing instructions on doing it the illegal way then!
-
wait until the iphone 5 drops then they will add siri to older devices
-
Apple F**k you..!
-
I second that.....
-
Why doesn't an anonymous hacker just release the illegal method?
-
They will. Actually, they probably already have, we're just not on the inside circle... YET ;-))
-
THEY WILL BE PATIENT!!! Adolescence is so wasted on the youth.
-
Because nobody wants to be sued by apple.
-
You're all upset cause apple won't release Siri for older iPhone, maybe the real reason you are upset is cause you are too cheap to just go and buy an iPhone 4s.
-
F**k you u 2 "Apple 2" IPhone 4S has alot of issues bugs and sh!t and a half... That's why I'm not buying a 4S...! Maybe 4 months later..! But not now..! I'm happy with my iPhone 4 8gb...
-
Actually I think its going to be the opposite apple is going to be trying to phase out the older devices rather then add features to them.
-
Iphone 4s bugs? Really? If anything the hardware is superb it's all software bugs that will get worked out as patches for the firmware come together just like every other single operating system. If you people want all this ****, quit waiting for other people to do the work for you, otherwise put up or shut up. If you want Siri bad enough 200 bones is well worth it. For the record you won't use Siri as much as you think because none of you have the lives that you think you have to where you will actually have to use Siri as much as you want to. Sorry to ruin your day but welcome to the real world.

Hey, Apple is a company and wants to make money. They do not make money with adding (major ?) features to devices they already sold when updates are free. One way would be to offer Siri as an App like it was in the Appstore. That would a be a way to satisfy customers of 3GS (if hardware, especially microphon, is not too bad) and the iPhone 4, iPad2 and iPad Touch.Who wants it, can buy it.....Come on Apple... that would be the way. Let decide your customers what they want to use on their phones! :-)

If you want Siri then buy the iPhone 4s. It's pretty clear that no hacker is going to release instruction on how to port siri

Some of us live in countries where the 4s costs a few paychecks, especially if you're a university student. I can't afford to just fork out $800 bucks for a new phone, but I would of been happy to pay for an upgrade at a smaller priceto use these features. But it is a marketing tool for apple on their new phones and it is understandable that they want to leave it on 4s.
-
@apple ... Your right.... There is no ression, global economy is booming and we all have 800 bucks we keep on us that's just chump change. How could we be so cheap.
-
i guess u have a 4s -be utsh-

How do you figure $800?New contractiPhone 4s 16GB - $199iPhone 4s 32GB - $299iPhone 4s 64GB - $399Even for customer who have to do an early upgrade the price is only $250 on top of the original price. Early upgrade PriceiPhone 4s 16GB - $449iPhone 4s 32GB - $549IPhone 4s 64GB - $649
-
Who upgraded just for Siri, many did for faster processor and camera as well.
-
I am really disappointed with Apple recently!I have upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 5 and I am facing major problems in battery consumption.
-
True, also just to add onto the discussion and to your argument. If one can't afford the new phone doesnt mean they are entitled to get a feature they can't afford. When people bought their iPhone 4, Siri was not listed as one of the features so iPhone 4 users aren't entitled to anything but the features they paid for when they bought the phone. Apple bought Siri, they aren't going to just give it away for free, apple isn't a charity it's a business. I really don't care if iPhone 4 users do or do not get Siri but some people keep acting like their entitled to get Siri and apple owes them.

Upgraded due to 3g bout flatlineing, however the whole hype of siri and its abilitys were something i did look forward to. Imagine my let down. Thank the apple gods that the hardware and camera features are present. Like ive said if i was a iphone 4 owner and upgraded i woulda been pissed off greatly!.... However i do enjoy the 4s.
