Siri's Security Protocol Cracked; Could Be Used With Other Apps And Devices But...
Ever since Apple has introduced Siri - iPhone 4S' revolutionary voice activated personal assistant feature, hackers have been in love with it.
They've ported Siri to non-iPhone 4S devices and hacked it to add custom commands. Folks at Applidium have now announced that they've hacked Siri's security protocol.
Applidium had released the open source video player VLC app in the App Store, which was later removed due to licensing issues.
Applidium announced the news on their blog:

hahaha I love these hackers. Is there something they can't do? :)
-
that would have been nice if they managed to make it work in non-4S, cause so many have 4 and 3gs. i dont plan bying a 4s, cuz i want to wait till 5 comes out. and my 3s works perfectly fine.
-
Sigh. It's the unique 4s identifier problem again. Seems that there's no way to port Siri over legally :(
-
Forget legally! Jailbreak in was illegal at one point, but didn't stop It happening.
-
jailbreaking was never illegal.

f*** Apple, I spent £500 on my iPhone 4, as did everyone else who bought the 4, so why shouldn't we be aloud to have Siri? To charge so much for a device but yet drop support for it when a great feature is out is just to try and make us go out and buy another shiny f***ing phone which they glamourise. Truth is, the OS is just f***ing lame, every new feature is an old feature which they trick you into thinking its "changing the phone" or "breakthrough technology". I've had it with the iPhone, I will be switching to an Android when my contract is up, stupid Crapple.

I heard they haven't been able to turn water into wine yet, or part the red sea.

Yeah, give us a jailbreak for ios5 for the 4s and ipad2, and untethered, jail break for the iphone 4.
-
They have managed to get it to work, but no one wants to get sued by apple for releasing. Plus chances are apple is going to block non-iPhone 4s users once it's released.
-
Well you knew what features you were buying when you bought the iPhone 4. Apple made no promises that it would include any features beyond the ones that came with the phone. Plus apple had to buy Siri and apple isn't a charity but a business. So Siri needs to make money otherwise it's isn't a very good investment and apple doesn't stand to profit from giving Siri to iPhone 4 users.
-
Going thru all that trouble to get Siri? JUST GET A DANG IPHONE 4S.
-
are you sure you will get newest version of android on your device? stupid baby whinner
-
Wa,Wa,Wa...lol. Anyway that would be Fu***d up if the hacker or someone had their identifier blacklisted and couldn't use Siri on their (4S) anymore.
-
I find it funny people crying over little features such as Siri, anyone remember the iPhone 3GS? it wasnt a huge leap from the iPhone 3G, certain features like the ability to actually record were possible on the iPhone 3G but apple still didnt add it on. This is apples way of pushing the device onto people, deal with it they have been doing it for years now.
-
untethered is not happening. They all work for apple.... Stuck on n iPhone then ur stuck on stupid
-
Ive yet to see someone do that either.Have you?
-
All the people who wine and complain about not being able to port Siri to their iPhone should get a clue. This is America and nothing is for free, with the copyright law existing there is no way any hacker is going to release how to port Siri. Do what everybody else did, if you want Siri buy an iPhone 4s. If you're not going to buy an iPhone 4s stop bitc hing like a little kid about not having Siri.
-
I agree, you knew what features were release with the iphone4 if you didnt expect apple to release a new phone before your contract allowed for an upgrade then you are a moron. I can't believe you are soo upset about Siri only being on the 4s. What the f*** did you think was gonna happen?
-
Amen lol..
-
SIRI for Android everyone!!
-
But, heaven knows Apple thinks they can walk on water!
-
Thank you! You save me a lot of typing.
-
Yes it was, then they legalized it although it still voids your warranty. Don't state facts you're not sure of, idiot.
-
Rob already said that, give props like djman10 did.

Jailbreaking was never illegal, apple went to court to try to make it illegal, but failed, so it was never illegal, check your facts.

Technology has been increasing so much over the past 15 years! Just think back at the Zak Morris phone.. you could call someone.. that's it. These smartphones have spoiled us all.But ya, Siri is pretty sweet.. you could always use the "voice command" before, to play songs and call ppl, but now there are a lot more options. Love how you can set reminders with it.. "remind me when i get home to >Insert whatever here< " and it will use the gps let you know whatever it is you needed to be reminded about. or you want to sleep in a little more.. "wake me up in 21 min.. "it doesn't always get what your saying tho.. which can be a little annoying, but it has a lot of cool features.. 15 years from now, who knows what we will have? iBrain.. an implanted chip that makes you see holograms. and are completely connected with the whole world..

I think apple should port Siri to other OS devices. I understand they need to make money but with all the people that want it they could make much more money if they make it an app and charge. More people would be wiling to pay $20-$30 for an app than $200 for a new phone when the one they have is still fairly new!
-
Both of you need to check your facts - Jailbreaking does not void your warranty (A simple restore erases the jailbreak data and leaves no evidence)
