I have been waiting for this for awhile but not other updates seem like a bummer. I would hate to see a price drop and then a 32GB come out (which it will) soon with GPS and all that stuff for the same price.

Just so you know, both Germany and France, along with most other European countries, use the Euro or € as currency. 1 € ~= 1,50 $US. The 16GB is 499 €, which is less than £399, while the 8GB is still 399 €, which is a lot more than $499.
