Next Generation iPhone, iPad And Apple TV References Found In iOS 5.1
Apple seeded iOS 5.1 Beta to developers of iOS developer program yesterday.
While it's not clear what new features and improvements Apple has included in the upcoming iOS software update, 9 to 5 Mac has discovered references to quite a few next generation iOS devices.
9 to 5 Mac reports that they've discovered references to the next generation iPhone, iPad and Apple TV.

The 4S is a revision of the iPhone 4, hence the 4.2.5.1 will be a completely new phone.

On the wish list – I want the frikkin’ video cables to work again!! LOLApple continually ignores this issue. I have the official cables and the last time they worked was on 4.2.1 on the iPhone 4. Before that, the last time was 3.2.1 on my 3G. And now they don’t even work on a 3G on 4.2.1.I’m afraid to buy the one for HDMI out because online blogs report that people are still having the same issue regardless. AARGH!!

They are probabily in testing mode now so expect the next gen iphone to be annouced next summer. If an apple employee doesn't lose the iphone in a bar again.

actually 1=iphone 2G, 2=iphone 3g, 3=iphone 3gs, 4=iphone 4 and 5=iphone 4s

Actually you're naming different iPhone by year, 1 = 2007 iPhone, 2 = 2008 iPhone 3G, 3 = 2009 iPhone 3GS, etc.Really, the iPhone and iPhone 3G are iPhone1,1 and iPhone1,2 respectively. The iPhone 3GS is iPhone2,1 (a second generation; new hardware inside). The iPhone 4 is iPhone3,1 (a third generation; new A4 chip). The iPhone 4S is iphone4,1 (a fourth generation; new A5 chip). The iPhone 5 will be likely the iPhone5,1 (a true 5th generation; sixth year; with a new A6 quad-core ARM CPU)
