iOS 5.1 Beta Doesn't Fix Battery Issues
We reported earlier this week that Apple seeded the first beta of iOS 5.1 to developers. Users who have upgraded and tested this version claim that it does not fix battery issues.
Ars Technica sat down with Michael Morgan from ABI Research to analyze the various reports of poor battery life.

My battery life on my 4S was great when I upgraded to 5.0.1 but worse now that I upgraded to the 5.1 beta
-
Battery life on my 4S is alot crapper than the iphone 4. Turned of location services, that defo helped but is still crap.
-
I got my 4s last month and i didnt notice any battery issues but i did want my phone to last longer so i tried turning off local weather and it helped Alot im no expert but try it :)
-
my phone last for a whole day with iOS 5.0.1 and sometimes two days.. i'm using an iphone 4

Survey Shows That 96% Of Users Are Satisfied With Their iPhone 4S... so who cares as long as iphone 4S users are that much satisfied.. :P

Do not worry. It will improve with the following phone. Another update for 300 $:)
-
But it did fix my jabra 620s bluetooth headphones problem!

I have the same battery life with my 4s as I did with my Iphone 4. It lasts a full day with normal use. If I were to play a lot of games it will deplete quickly but during a normal workday that is not the case. I had previously used a couple of androids and in comparison the iphone battery is stellar!

iOS 5.2 is for that!

God the stuff apple fan boys say is just getting funnier and funnier. I just paid 300$ to buy an iphone 4 that has some leftover underclocked ipad 2 cpus. The battery life is crap compered to the iphone 4. but who cares cause i can talk to my phone. Man steve jobs was a genius he got so many people to just buy what ever crap they put out even if its is just the smallestl upgrade and people just eat it up. its just like the new galaxy s 2 comercials. Its sad too cause i used to be one of thoese people and after buying the thrill waiting foe the new iphone i was lucky enough to see that the grass is greener on the other side

It's not the phones battery it's iOS 5. I have an iPhone 4 not the 4S and as soon as I updated to ios 5 it sucked.
-
Hey idiot no body cares about you!
-
And you're still reading a site about iPhone news.... right...
-
Just downgrade back down to 5.0.1 since its the latest version. Why would you upgrade to a beta version anyway?
-
We need more distortion field.
-
My battery life is fine. I must be one of the lucky ones

#1 Battery Rule - NEVER restore from backup unless you are restoring to the EXACT same model and firmware version. It's a pain in the ass to set up as a new iPhone but it is effective in many cases. (also prevents some of the storage space loss when upgrading to different firmwares. ) I dont have any data loss but I use jailbreak program Pkgbackup which allows you to selectively restore. I don't have anything to base this on, but my hunch is its something to do with system settings, probably those that arent configured by the user. A less drastic thing to try first is go to the Reset menu on the iPhone and reset all settings. Your data remains intact. I don't know if this works but it's easier than setting up a new iPhone.

Anyone know if I turn on notifications for all apps if that uses more battery than just a few most used ones? I've always avoided Notifications but iOS5 makes them more useful.
-
what else is different in other phones? you sound retarded.
-
My iPad also dies faster with ios5. It's definitely a software problem
-
would you like to use a Nokia 3310?
-
Dude better use Nokia 1100. Battery will last for long.
