you can start the simulator, bur have you tried to build an application?
no architectures to compile for (ARCHS=ppc, VALID_ARCHS=i386); no executable will be created

I just want a totaly modifiyable iPhone that I could build programs for without having to buy a new computer, I already spent 400 for an apple, do I have to spend 700 more? I'm starting to hate apple now.

Wow, that's useless. You can install the SDK if you omit the SDK!

I downloaded 4.0.2, installed via pacifist , but kept getting checksum errors on install , any ideas?
