Samsung May Launch "Retina" Display Tablet In February Before Apple's iPad 3
It is widely speculated that iPad 3 will come with a Retina Display, offering a resolution of 2048x1536, double the resolution of the original iPad and iPad 2.
But it looks like Apple may not be able to call it the tablet with the highest resolution screen as Samsung is planning to launch a 11.6 tablet with a higher resolution screen than iPad 3 in February, according to BGR.
That is also around the same time when Apple is expected to unveil the third generation iPad.

2560x1600 Now that is just sweet.

Samsung's Tablet has become the greatest challenge to the Apple's iPad.. It seems Apple has to add much more features .

Whether it's 2048×1536 or 2560x1600 both devices are gonna be awesome. I'm still not sure that's retina though. I'd be interested in knowing the pixels per inch on such displays :)

Use a calculator than dingus. You know the size and the pixel count!

OK. A power efficient *display*.But the GPU/CPU will be burning through more power to *drive* the display at that resolution. Pixels aren't free :)Anyway, assuming a well written OS and app combo, power consumption could be minimized for "book reader" type apps, which is mainly what extra pixels will benefit (for most users).I suspect they'll be unable to minimize power consumed for video/photo/cgi apps, which is the other area that would benefit from higher res.

So we're speculating on speculations now? Sweet!

What else will Samsung launch that Apple offers?
