I have a jailbroken ipad 1 on 4.3. i'm trying to restore to 5.0.1 ipsw but its giving me a 3194 error. is it ok for me to upgrade to 5.0.1 through itunes??

Just updated to 5.0.1 from 4.3.3 with itunes. Had to put my ipad into DFU mode first. Then jailbroke it using this tutorial, then restored from a backup. All seems to be working well so far.

updated to 5.0.1 everything looked great until tried downloading sources, thebigboss.org repo isn't working for me.

Does not work on iPad 1. After step 6 the app says 'no identifying data read' and then nothing happens anymore.

Erwin - You are doing it wrong. I have just done the above and it works perfectly on iPad 1 running 5.0.1.Cheers pod2g! Lets hope he can get the A5 untethered jailbreak sometime soon.

Yea!!!!!! Carnt wait to jailbreak just to pay money to a hacked app store called cydia, I would rather pay app store at least they fix apps, and I can still restore from iCloud, cydia sux cause they charge money for apps that are not even signed, everything on cydia should be free cause it is fake app store, they are just ripping you all off, suckers. Cydia the app store for failed app developers, jailbreak breaks iBooks yea what else does it break? That you don't know about?

error 1604, 1600 and 3014. thanks to many user's reply i had finally gotten pass these errors. In your tiny umbrella>advance tab uncheck "set host to cydia on exit and request shsh from cydia". seems like the upgrade is going through without any error.

Ppl, can you pls help me?I am now on 4.2.1 jailbroken iPad 1. What should I do if I want to get 5.0.1?1) Will all hacked apps be there if I upgrade via iTunes?2) I have installed emulators such as iMame, Snes9x with a lot of roms. Are they gonna be there after the upgrade?Many thanks

If by hacked apps, you are referring to Cydia apps, then yes, you will have to reinstall them, either manually or using pkgbackup or similar utility prior to upgrading. If you are referring to apps downloaded using ****, after upgrading and jailbreaking, you will need to install app sync and then sync your device using iTunes, making sure that the apps you want to sync are checked under the apps tab in iTunes.

After I updated and jailbroke my ipad1 I get "Your selected cellular network is restricted" when try to connect to my carrier. My Modem Firmware is 07.11.01.Is there anyway I could connect to my carrier on jailbroken 5.0.1 ipad?Thanks

Hi,Hafew probles with the jail break and still have. Managed to help with gettinr to the preparing jailbreak data but now crashes?before this there were many issues for crashing on the windows XP, Solved some of these by right clicking as above comments then going to task manager right clicking on redsnow.exe and then set afinity to 1 x CPU ( If both are set, I changed to the other CPU if 1 was alread ticked ) this helped. Alao changed USB port and turned off the antivirus software. But as above it crashes at the prepaing jailbreak data. any please help!!Thanks

iPad 1 with 4.3.3, already jailbroken. Trying to upgrade to 5.0.1 using redsn0w 0.9.10b5c on WinXP. I run redsn0w, put iPad into DFU mode, rs acts as if its working and data is supposedly downloaded. Afterward rs says it's done but I do not get a "Finish" button. iPad reboots, goes through the motions, reboots again. When its done I can go to Setting > About and it still shows I'm at 4.3.3. I've redone the process ensuring that I don't select the install of Cydia and I manually select the ipsw I downloaded and get the same results.So what am I missing here?

Redsn0w is crashing, IPad 1 is in DFU mode, when redsn0w tries to access the internet ~5 seconds later a Window error comes up saying Redsn0w.exe has stopped working.Any suggestions as I have version 0.9.10b5c? I am running Windows 7 but did go into properties and asked this program to run in Window XP SP3 compatibility mode.
