I hope theres a way to turn the tracking feature off. Thats just gonna kill our batteries even faster.

Hey Jared,
Thats a good point, it can definitely be a battery drainer.
However, I believe you will have an option to turn this feature on or off when you launch the Google Maps app.
I also think that the feature will work only when you have the Google Maps apps is running. So if you exit the Maps app, it will automatically turn off the live location tracking.
