Apple TV Hacked To Run Full-Screen iPad Apps
Yesterday, iOS hacker and developer Steven Troughton-Smith and Nick gave us the good news that they had managed to hack the second generation Apple TV to run iOS apps.
It looks like in the last 24 hours they have made significant progress.
Steven Troughton-Smith has been posting a number of photos, which seems to indicate that they've managed to run the iOS app in full screen mode.

This is just an awesome development.

What will happen to Apple if these hackers aren't around? They will be the next Nokia.

Airplay Screen Mirror???

if these hackers weren't around apple would just have to develop an apple tv. there's a thought...

While I tip my hat to these guys for incredible skills and wonderful work, I can't see this leading to apple being forced to release an app store as the article hopes/wishes for. With an anticipated 2012 release date of apple tv, I can't see allowing the same on a $99 device.

I agree!!

You're right, it is a thought....a dumb one....Like, super super dumb....best part was you were sitting there thinking you were funny/creative, but we can all tell just from your comment that you're probably a little 'slow'. We're right huh? There's a thought...

The fact that someone would suggest Apple is nothing without hackers is ludicrous. But I guess I'm too slow to use words like ludicrous, and also too slow to realize Apple already has plans to release an app driven television quite possibly by years end.So if you "knew this" why didn't "you know that"

Yup you are slow. My comment is about iDevices in general NOT only about this apple tv.Just what can you do with an iDevices that's unjailbreak? Not much.

If this can run things like BBC iplayer and other TV catch up apps and lovefilm and sky go apps then am defo getting another apple TV for the bedroom. Also when the onlive app comes out that would be cool saves buying there consol

First you moron the term would be "not jailbroken" not unjailbrokenTo name a few uses any idevice has that is not jailbroken:iPhone --> phone, gps, mp3 player, gaming system, geotagging, photography, video recording/editting, surfing the internet, medical recorder, heartbeat monitor, blood pressure monitor, alarm clock, altimeter, navigation system, etc.iPad --> same as all the above, phone included via VOIPiPod touch --> again same as first via VOIPApple TV --> Watch movies, stream content from popular internet video sites, mirror content from iPhone or iPad to your tv, stream music from your iTunes or iCloud, stream sports, stream news.Pretty much the only major innovation the "hackers" are providing is full internet access on apple tv, to which I give them credit. I give all the jail breakers much credit for their work. But, the iDevices work perfectly fine and are excellent products in their virgin states.
