Will Apple Introduce an Entry Level iPad For $299?
DigiTimes - the Taiwan-based publication continues to be one a roll.
They claim that according to their supply chain sources, Apple could offer three iPad models with the launch of the third generation iPad.

It's a good strategy for them but adding a little feature shouldn't cost a consumer $100 I believe. Except the retina display which can cost a lot, the mid-entry iPad is pretty pointless

What about different storage capacity as well as processor and screen resolutions? Would all these options overlap or would you only have the option of larger storage, higher screen resolutions and fastest available processor on the high end models? I find it hard to believe that Apple would sell an ipad for $300, its not like they've ever cut prices on the lap and desktop models. We're talking about Apple, never known them to sell anything for cheap just to compete.

Apple never competes at the low end of the market. The only way I see them lowering the price is if there is some other revenue source to subsidize it.

I would put money on them releasing a 8gb or something ipad2 for a very discounted price. They did it with the iPhones and it works well. 8GB 3Gs Free 8GB iPhone 4 100 iPhone 4s 200+.

I agree. Wasn't there a rumor that apple will have a cheap version of iPhone 5. And when 4s came out, there wasn't. Apple did offer the iPhone-4 in 8gb sprint flavor. That's about it. But the phones have a 2year contract that apple gets a cut from, so they can afford to lower thd cost. But not here. These should be treated like their laptops. They didn't discount old laptops that much. The discounted them to finish off the supply.

I dont know why people give out these bullsh*t rumours of apple selling lower end cheaper models of their high revenue brand, i mean even though their products such as the iphone 4/4s and ipad 2 are so expensive, i dont see people complaining. People still buy the products. Apple will stick to their prices and people will save to buy an apple product, simple! Why fix something if its not broken, in apples case why make lower end models if they are already the top selling smartphone vendor
