54% of Future Smartphone Buyers Say They'll Buy iPhone 4S
A new survey shows that 54% of people who are planning on buying a smartphone in the next three months plan to buy an iPhone.
ChangeWave Research, in a new survey of North American consumers, has found that a significant number of people are looking at Apple and Samsung for their next smartphone. Both companies have an "explosive momentum" behind them.

Who are they surveying, people walking in and out of Apple stores? These figures are clearly bs because android is outpacing iOS and then you still have to leave room for other phones like Windows phones, blackberry, etc. So how is it possible that greater than 50% of people want an iphone yet competition is out pacing them?

It depends on how you examine the numbers. Android is out pacing them because its an OS not a piece of hardware, and is available on hundreds of phones from multiple manufacturers. Samsung sells more phones because it offers multiple different models including discounted and free models of phones, and more carriers to sell them on. The iPhone was the best selling phone at Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T for the month of December.
