Chronic Dev Team to Release Absinthe and Dev Team to Release Command Line Tool to Perform Untethered Jailbreak on iPhone 4S and iPad 2 Very Soon
Hot on the heels of the post by the iPhone Dev team that provided more details about the untethered jailbreak, pod2g has just published an article on his blog to announce that Chronic Dev team will release a new jailbreak tool called Absinthe and iPhone Dev team will release a command line tool to perform the untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2.
He writes:
I know the wait was long, too much long, but it's about to end! You'd be able to free your iPhone in some hours.

Abisnthe isn't CLI. The CLI is an additional tool being released by the Dev Team.

It really goes without saying the amount of unbelieveable work these guys have done over the previous weeks/months is amazing, and greatly appreciated by 99.9% (with the moaning 0.1%!) its going to be great! (Although expect **** to be down for a couple of days after it gets swamped with many new devices trying to connect!)

These guys r geniuses. I would love to see this kind of support when the psvita comes out. Wouldn't that be sweet people, homebrew and emulators for the psvita!!!

Thank you for some good news ! Yet I am a bit confused. Pod2G said UPDATE UPDATE ....and now I see that new jailbreak will work with 5.0 as well AND on top of that you guys are now saying if you want to unlock phone in future DO NOT update soooo WTF thousands of people update for 5.0.1 for ? I mean is there a reason to update to 5.0.1 at all ? Something in 5.0.1 that needed or make phone "better"? Anyhow I am bummed out right now but one I see sweet Cydia icon on you shiny 4S everything will go away :DThank you guys !

Yeah that is what he is referring to as iPad 2 gsm I know gsm and 3G are two different things but there's no such thing as an iPad with just gsm lol so I'm really guessing this will jailbreak iPad 2 with 3G

Timmy, I don't believe that u can unlock an iPad. If u meant jailbreak then yes u should upgrade to 5.0.1 as stated by pod2g in this very article.

5.0.1 is for those who suffer crap battery life in 5.0 but only some. Then baseband 9A406 is for some who suffer sim card issue over 9A405. Not really big deal coz since 5.0, many of us 4S user suffer different firmware problem.

Adios to you, for me i'm great with command line, maybe noobs should not bother with it, not saying you are one. If it's not something you feel comfortable using, why use it?
