Next Gen iPhone to Get Liquipel's Waterproof Coating?
Last month, HzO demonstrated their "WaterBlock" technology at CES 2012, which could make smartphones like the iPhone waterproof.
HzO claimed that it was in talks with companies like Apple to use their technology in future iPhones.

And we can use it in the shower! lol

Can we buy it know

You can always use a LifeProof case and have a water proof Iphone right now.
-
No way something like that will be ready in time for the next phone. Maybe in 2013.
-
How can they do it, I'm thinking about the mic, and the speakers??? won't the water go in trough these small holes?
-
Did you even watch the video? Anyways, You can send your phone to these guys and they'll set your phone up with it right now if you wanted to. I forget how much. I thought it was about $70 but not sure. It was in a post a month ago on iPhone Hacks I thought.

im with you.

I think the only issue apple might have is affecting the coating on the glass

They use the liquid coat inside not outside.
-
Erm. They can make the device water repelant and yet reccomend you do not get the device wet (contact with a liquid) There's confidence in a product for ya lol.
-
Cool, I want it now.
-
...Water REPELLENT not PROOF.
-
...which wears off in a month or two anyway so what does it matter. My iPhone in two months was a finger print farm.
-
AGAIN, repellent doesn't mean PROOF

MY son just had the Liquipel done, works amazingly! He sent me a pic he took while holding phone under faucet! Not that they recommend you do that, but it works, headset, bluetooth, everything! Well worth the money.

Cool, but still it only protects from water damage without any case, it doesn't protect from being dropped into a hard cement or hard surface. You will need a case for that.

Eh. Someone had this done and did a review on youtube. The phone worked the whole time it was underwater, however, that night or next day the phone was stuck in DFU mode or something and the guy couldn't get it to start up again. He says it was due to his jailbreaking, but I personally found it way too coincidental that it happened right after he did the Liquipel test. It may make the phone water resistant, but you just know the dumbasses who don't understand what this is really all about are going to get their phone done and take it swimming or in the shower.Anyway, too new of a technology, I'll let others be the guinea pigs on this :)

This kind of coating is not new, I've seen a similar coating which also stopped scratches. Liquid Glass Shield.
