Apple World's Top Smartphone Vendor in Q4 2011
Research firm International Data Corporation (IDC) revealed in a report earlier today that smartphone vendors shipped 157.8 million units in 4Q 2011 compared to 102.0 million units in the fourth quarter of 2010.
Not surprisingly, Apple took the top position with 37 million iPhones shipped in the 4Q 2011, accounting for 23.5% of the market share in the quarter.

Hard to say, lots of people would have got locked in to a 2 year contract for a subsidised iPhone, Apple will have to make the next one something really special.

That is some insane growth from Samsung. And if the next iPhone does not come with a 4' screen then I might jump ship to Android. Really can't stand to use a non jailbroken iPhone and who knows how long it will take for the next iPhone (June or October) or when it will be jailbroken. Contract is up in August and if I don't renew then I will lose my monthly credits.
