Apple Sued For Using 'iPad' Name in China
Apple seems to be in trouble for using the "iPad" name in China.
iSmashPhone reports that Apple could be fined 240 million yuan ($38 million) by government authorities over alleged trademark infringement involving the "iPad" name.
But the $38 million fine just seems to be tip of the iceberg as Proview Technology is also suing Apple for $1.6 billion. It also wants Apple to apologize and is seeking an injunction that prevents the company from using the iPad name in China.

Not surprising at all really. Did you know that Apple bought the rights to use "iOS" from Cisco Systems. Go have a look for yourself. I dont see why they cant come up with their own names for products? I hope this Chinese company wins.

How can a Chinese company sue apple for for this when China makes illegal copies of iPhones and sells them under the same name without permission from Apple or revenue given to them? What a bunch of hippocrits. China has already proven patents don't mean a thing to them and yet it's fine the other way around?

You cant blame the one company on something that another company has done. Even if they are both from China. Apple has bought rights from the company for use of the "iPad" name with conditions. Due to those conditions, Apple should have either negotiated the terms, sold the iPad under a different name or not sold the iPad in China. Apple wants to break contract, now they face the consequences.

Really? China? If that was the case and apple lost than I don't think they would continue with the iPad name. And why would china have an iPad name to start off with? And why is this the first time we heard about it? And why is china waiting til now after iPad 2 with iPad 3 on its way to file suit ? WTF? Here comes WW3.
