Apple Reportedly Working on 'Micro Dock' Connector For iPhone, iPad And iPod
Apple is planning to replace the standard 30-pin dock connector that is used in the iPhone, iPad and iPod with something more compact, according to iMore.
iMore reports:
An updated “micro dock” would make room for bigger batteries, 4G radios, and other components far more important to the iPhone and iPad in a PC free world.
We’ve heard that Apple is getting ready to ditch the dock connector as it’s currently sized and implemented on iPods, iPhones, and iPads.

They should design a smaller dock connector that's magnetic!

"It is probably wishful thinking, but it would be nice if the mobile industry sat down and came up with a common standard that could be used across mobile devices to reduce the cable clutter." - Isn't this what mirco-USB is?

I approve this!!!

MagSafe for iPhone, me seconds that! :)
-
Yeah ,I would like something like the Mag-Safe connector to free up the clutter of cords and some space in the I devices
-
But will it blend?
-
waterproof..

Wireless charging would be nice. It's already possible with the iPhone, so why not do away with the connector altogether?
-
Oh, no, this means old chargers wont work with new devices?

Backwards compatibility will depend on locale, as universal connections are already mandated for specific very large markets. For this reason adapters are already provided to those clients. If you have not received the adapter now however there is little reason to expect one in the future.

pc is not dead!!!!!!!!

why worry? we can just use the 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack and plug it to your radio to listen to music.. :)
-
The next Apple devices will use Thunderbolt technology. Smaller, faster, newer, better,...(add text here), you get the point.

The mag safe connector would make trouble for the compas in iPhone.I wonder how they solved that in the iPad 2 with the magnets for smart cover.
-
I definitely agree with this. Much safer, like the MBP Magsafe, even when one trips over the corde, it won't damage the device.
-
Should do this Apple.. :)
-
How would that work in my car?
-
who would trip over an iPhone cable which would most likely be connected to your laptop or PC on your desk?
