Report Claims iOS 5.1 Golden Master Has Passed QA; Release Imminent
ChronicWire reports that according to their "very solid source" Golden Master build of iOS 5.1 has passed quality assurance phase, suggesting that it is ready to be released.
The Golden Master version is the shipping version of the iOS software update that developers must use to submit their iOS apps that are compatible with iOS 5.1.

For those of us with a jailbroken A5 device who are on 5.0.1, is there anything other than saving the SHSH files with Tinyumbrella that we should do to prepare for this?
-
Hey Greg,That should be enough, however remember the golden rule of jailbreaking is to stay put at the current jailbroken state until jailbreak tools for the latest iOS software update have not been released.
-
Got it, thanks. Am I correct in believing that as things stand right now even with the shsh blobs I won't be able to do a restore with 5.0.1 once they stop signing it?
-
Yeah, that's correct.

The one thing i did was install all the tweaks i want right now so that i wont be forced to reinstall 5.1 just incase a tweak bricks the phone while installing.
-
Again, thanks for the info. paulg -- Ditto. Now I just need to keep myself from messing around with new tweaks until I know I can restore if things go south.

This May be a silly question, but if it happens that we accidentally upgrade to 5.1, can't we just hold shift and click the update iOS button or whatever it is called in iTunes, and then direct it to an already downloaded iOS 5.0.1 version? I know it was possible once :)
-
No, you can't.

I would wait for next iphone as its already 6 months past the release date and probably next one will be in 6 months too.
