Tether Launches HTML5-Based Tethering Solution For iPhone
Back in November 2011, Apple had removed a tethering application from Tether called iTether.
Apple has been banning such applications from the App Store possibly due to pressure from carriers like AT&T, Verizon and Sprint who offer tethering plans for $20 per month that can be used using the Personal Hotspot feature that is available for iPhone users.

This is going to be a hit.

Won't the carriers just need to block the website address on their networks to circumvent the tethering. A bit like they do for adult sites? Or just scan for it to detect tethering and then send out a "we're greedy fekkas, your tethering, So we've added the $20 tether option to your price plan. Have a nice day sukka" text to you?just a thought guys

If you are in the UK and on the 3 network you get tethering for free. Also unlimited uncapped data. This is by far the best deal I have seen, both in the uk or USA.

You can the first app that was banned from the app store through ****

I still have a hard time figuring how this works. Took a look at Hacker News comments, and saw something about web sockets, still seems kind of like magic that without any native app, you could share your data connection to a computer. Any one has an easy explanation to how this works?

where do you live? just curious .. I have had no trouble visiting adult sites from my cell phone... not saying I visit them or anything .. but .............If I were too, I would have to say the experience has not been limited at all.

I tried My-Wi last year on my iPhone and AT&T was able to detect tethering, even though I used less than 500 mb of data. Don't know how this will work. Sounds promising.
