Samsung Executive: Apple Planning to Release Smaller iPad by The End of The Year
According to a quote by an anonymous Samsung executive in a Korea Times report, those rumors about Apple making a smaller iPad do have some weight.
As per Samsung executive, Apple has committed to buying at least $9.7 billion worth of components (displays, SSDs etc.) from Samsung within this year. The figure could even go up to $11 billion depending on demand. The executive slips in information about the 7.85 inch iPad when talking about this to The Korea Times:

I would love a smaller ipad or bigger ipod touch (whichever), I have a young one that is 4 and benefits from educational apps but cant justify spending $500 on an item that she cant carry. $250-300, 7-8 in screen, and camera would be nice.
