Microsoft to Employees: Apple Products Should Not be Purchased With Company Funds
ZDNet reports that Microsoft has sent an email to employees of Sales, Marketing, Services, IT, & Operations Group (SMSG) informing them that they should not purchase Apple products using company funds.
Here's an excerpt from that internal email that was sent by Alain Crozier, the chief financial officer of Microsoft's SMSG (courtesy ZDNet's Mary Jo Foley):
Within SMSG we are putting in place a new policy that says that Apple products (Mac & iPad) should not be purchased with company funds.

I'm guessing it's because the purchases went sky high these past few days with the release of the new iPad!

Gorspot think M(Dollar Sign) will loose street cred. After all it's those of us in street that pay for product. 8008GORSPOT

Why would you be surprised that there wasn't an ban on Apple products before? Microsoft does make software for OSX and iOS.

Yes, they made Office for Mac, and they will make the new office for iPad also. How developer test the software ? Using personal machine ? I feel that they stop to buy the machine for general use.

I am sure Apple does not have to say that about MIcrosoft products to employees

If you notice, the memo mentions these groups *only*: Sales, Marketing, Services, IT, & Operations Group (SMSG).That doesn't include the SDE's (software design engineers) that design, architect, and implement software for iOS devices and Macs.
