Why Hasn't Apple Added "Pull to Refresh" Feature to Native Apps?
If you're a Twitter addict and a long time iPhone user then you've probably heard of Loren Brichter. Loren was the developer of a popular iPhone app called Tweetie. Tweetie was renamed as "Twitter for iPhone" after Twitter bought Brichter's company - Atebits in 2010.
The "pull to refresh" UI trick was one of the Loren's coolest contribution to the iOS world, which was first introduced by him in the Tweetie app back in 2009.

When I first started using twitter out of habit I would try to pull to refresh my native mail.

...Because then apple wouldnt be able to market that feature on a new iOS build. They are always over marketing simple features and renaming them from manufacturer norms to "retina display" and such. Let the jailbreakers live and the iPhones will rule again not as a moneymaker but as a tool

I agree with Chris!

I was going to come here and say because Apple didn't think of it. But the patent explains it better why it's not in there.. :)

I agree with Chris too.

Apple should get it, refreshing mail is quite painful otherwise.

iOS 6 has a new object called UIRefreshControl and mail uses it. It's great!
