Steve Jobs Take on Heads-Up Display Glasses
Last week, Google unveiled their long rumored wearable augmented reality glasses, officially dubbed Google Glasses, which received quite a lot of buzz.
Google teased us with a concept video (embedded below), which showed how the augmented reality glasses might work. The video shows a user accomplishing tasks such as checking the weather, scheduling a meeting, getting directions, set reminder, making a video call etc. using Google glasses rather than using smartphones like we do currently.

AMAZING.... I wish I could work on it!

This is just way too invasive for me...

i-glasses wouldn't be catchy enough?

As usual Steve is right. In might look cool in movies but reality is different. Technology is meant to enhance our lives, not take over it.

I've seen people bump into things while walking because they were using their smartphones (not a phone call). I understand the glasses grab your attention but they at least allow for quicker response times and better field of vision than when you are looking down on your smartphone. It's on people to use gadgets responsibly.

Google or Bing .. i-glasses I used to have a pair like .... 15 years ago. They are 3d-video glasses that would work with games and VCRs and later DVD players (yes that old)They were really cool to hook up to a video source and watch movies. As advertised was like seeing a 60 inch screen floating in front of you.

Military pilots fly with HUDs all the time and (mostly) manage to stay in the sky which is seeing more and more air traffic all the time and at speeds much greater than walking. Jobs' reaction seems to be the way he responded to most things - shot them down almost immediately and then later he would pick the best of the ideas and pass them off as his own. Would have loved to have known what he thought of this implementation of the idea. Or may Apple has an iGlasses program in the works.

If anyone bothered to look at Apple's patent log they would see that they actually patented this very idea. And if you read the Steve Jobs biography, you would learn that's how he works. He didn't even create the Macintosh computer. He had an employee come up with the basic idea, then removed him from the project, changed the processor size, and BAM! He invented it. The guy was a total self absorbed idea thief.
-
You read his biography didn't you? Dude was a total idea thief.
-
Totally agree but u have all the apple robots making him out to be a god.
-
bs!! i bet if steve told u ur poo was soap u would wash with it too huh

You're taking a walk and suddenly a video pops up in front of your face. Suddenly you can't see what's in front of you, because a video is in the way.Yeah, pretty sure Steve knew what he was talking about.

steve saw the potential stumbling block like any idiot would. Google will figure out how to make it less invasive than this video or all the testers will notice the problem.Otherwise who'd want it?!
-
surpised no one has linked this yet.the new "eyephone" episode of futuramahttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaHUpWuqNHYhas vr without the need for glasses, haha

I guess you didn't bother to watch the video. Could've have at least done that before defending Steve's so called remarks. And the flaw in this guys story is these are not meant for exercising. If he really thought of the glasses why didn't he pitch it to someone else? If that were me, I wouldn't even bother with Apple. It's either Google or Microsoft but most likely the latter.

Idea is cool but going by their software prowess with Android, this wont be trouble free.

Hmmm. I see lots of potential for legal action from folks using a device like this irresponsibly. It's not my fault! The lawyers are going to love this.
-
And if you wear prescription glasses? Lol
-
You all talk of tripping. Am I missing something??? Do you only have one eye? The glasses don't cover both eyes.
