Apple Could Reduce Thickness of Next Generation iPhone by 15%
Last week, we reported that Apple could use in-cell touch panels in the next generation iPhone that could allow it to make it thinner than iPhone 4S.
So the question was how much thinner? Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo at KGI Securities has answered that question in his recent report. He believes that Apple could reduce the thickness of the next generation iPhone to under 8mm compared to iPhone 4S, which is 9.3mm thick.
Here's an excerpt from his report via MacRumors:

Since when does making the phone thinner assure sales numbers? so iPhone 16 will be 0.1mm thick? I personally think the thickness of iPhone 4/4S is perfect for comfortable use for general people.

they should increase the wideness 15% instead

I agree, comparing my iphone 4 to my ipod touch 4th gen, the iphone fits perfectly in my palm, while the ipod feels too thin, it's actually difficult to hold because of its thinnes. So I assume the next iphone won't be much thinner, maybe 8,9 mm, but that's not really a major issue... I hope they increase the display size though.

Apple should give customers the option of a larger battery. The iPhone is thin enough already.

In view, they'd better make slightly thicker iPhone with bigger battery than another version of iPod...

Bigger screen bigger battery screw this thin s#*%

I think they should use these new touch screens and use the extra space for a bigger battery for use with the 4g lte networks.

Personally, I'd rather have an awesome battery than a thinner phone. As for screen size, I think some of these Android phones with 4.7" screens look rediculous.

EXACTLY !!!

OHh hmm I wonder if by metal back they mean the liquid metal company that apple bought into? that stuff got pretty thing yet was still pretty strong.

I agree. I think they look to much like a brick.Btw I wonder if the new iPhone will be called iPhone 4g (after the network not the generation). I just don't think it makes sense to call it iPhone 5 since technically the 4s was the 5th. But who knows, I'm sure they'll surprise us.

they should just make it 15% fatter and give us some decent battery life

I've used numerous smart phones in my household and the 4S battery kicks a@s if you ask me. Jailbroken and modded up and still gets 6.5hrs of usage. I think that's great.

Well, LQMT is up 255% over the last 5 days, so I'd say that was a pretty good indicator!

I know this is technology, but smaller is not better. I want my iphone to be bigger - bigger screen, bigger battery. As it is I have to put a pretty thick case on it just to make it large enough to comfortably hold to my head for phone calls.
