RIM Unveils BlackBerry 10 - Will it Compete With iOS?
RIM unveiled their next generation operating system, BlackBerry 10 at BlackBerry World 2012 keynote in Orlando, Florida earlier today.
BlackBerry 10 is expected to be released later this year, which means that it will compete with Apple's iOS 6 that is widely expected to be released in October like last year.
Here're some of the highlights from the sneak peek video and details provided by Dieter Bohn of The Verge who was present at the keynote event:

Looks like ****. iOS is gonna blow smoke up Blackberry's asshole
-
the OS doesn't matter, people buy iphone for its apps. period.
-
lol all the big apps are on most OS's. ppl love iOS and how it runs those apps
-
The Only reason that I Bougth an iPhone was for Cydia and ****..! That's it... As long as I can test an app before buy It, is very importan to me!
-
Hahaha. Looks like an unmarked iPhone 4/4s. :) keyboard features looks awesome tho!
-
That phone looks pretty dope. Just plain simple. I like the camera thing where you go back in time that's pretty awesome.
-
Still no Netflix! Camera app and keyboard are the only upsides to the Cracky long awaited ui.
-
Time on the phone in the video is 13:37 lol
-
What's so funny about that?
-
Pros:Persistent camera app and continuous multitasking.Cons:Talk time of 28 minutes and standby time of 3 hours.:-D

RIM, nice try but never enough.

Hands down iPhone 5 and iOS 6
-
I hope that people's accounts can still get corrupted with a two day turn around to fix it. That's my favorite RIM feature.
-
Glad it'll support video calling, both blackberry users can video chat with each other.RIM is still trying to catch up instead of innovate...

How can it be iPhone 5 and iOS 6 hands down?! There was only 3 things shown off about the BB10 OS and they all looked super sick! very fluid and sweet! iOS 6 hasn't even been announced, and from previous iOS updates, iOS 5 was a huge upgrade, iOS 6 will be minor additions but like 400 of them

Steve Jobs was right! ... When he reviled the iPhone for the first time in 2007, he said that it will take at least 5 years for competitors to come to something anywhere like it. Now its 2012 and as you can see Blackberry have copied the multi-touch philosophy of the iPhone 100%. Finally RIM realised that the only way to compete with Apple is by being Apple! (getting rid of the bulky physical keyboard buttons and make giant screen with nothing on it except multi-touch sensitivity) to focus on the software part the most. This Blackberry 10 looks very amazing and feels really like what Apple are doing. If I got no choice but to leave my iPhone and switch to some other phone then this new Blackberry is going to be my 2nd best option, but lets see what Apple is going to do about that. iOS 6 and new iPhone are on the way. If there is one critical reason why I can't leave Apple is because I have invested a lot of money during the past 4 years buying apps & tweaks from the App Store and Cydia, and I do not want to lose them all if I switch to another platform.
-
yes, but you'll have to buy them all over again if you switch from a platform to another!
-
-
I agree with Zed Sefi.
-
ooo I have to pay another .99 cents to re-buy an app or twoand most of the big ones are usually free, so your argument for the most part is moot

Apple really needs to add new things to the iOS. They should really get ideas from the cydia devs or buy their damn tweaks and apps. I like jailbreaking but its a hassle sometimes. iOS needs toggles for wifi, 3G, BT, location services and so on.... Toggles is the main feature I want! You should also be able to put unlimited apps in a folder and a folder within. I hate being limited to 12 apps per folder. I miss 3G unrestrictor when my iPhone 4s was jailbroken. I miss being able to make FaceTime calls over 3G and downloading large mb apps over 3G. How about the built in YouTube app...? Off wifi the quality is horrible. 3G unrestrictor fixes those issues and more. I also miss iblacklist. I remember having those old flip flop phones back then which had iblacklist features built in. Why can't iOS have that?!!!! Damn... I just wish official iOS had these features and more like when my phone was jailbroken. Apple really needs to start working hard on iOS 6....I do t want to jump ship in the future at all.

Blackberry 10 = WebOS 2.0. Blackberry is going the way of the palm. Good riddance to their bug riddled expensive crapware.

They can't 'pause' apps in the background to prevent battery drain. Apple patented that. lol
