Rumor: Next Generation iPhone Will be Thinner, Come With Taller 4-Inch Display And Smaller Dock Connector
Back in April, The Verge forum member - modilwar showed us how Apple's next iPhone could come with a larger 4-inch display, but avoid impacting all iOS developers despite the change in resolution of the screen.
iLounge reports that according to their source, Apple's next generation iPhone will indeed feature a taller 4-inch display.

Yes, the increased height may be used to display more icons, or Apple may surprise us by using that space for a new software features. I for one hope it would be for widgets and notifications.

I really hope there isn't a new dock connector, that'd be such a pain. My car charger, the Elevation Dock, and any accessories that connect through the dock port will no longer work.

Is there not enough space to fit the extra 10mm in height of the screen without increasing the devices height? I actually like the idea of a taller screen just to stop/help cropping films when forcing it to fit the screen.

Taller screens arent that bad My fiancé Has a HTC Sensation, if there app store was as good I would have got itBut I agree the first evo screen was quite delicious I like wider. No homo. Lol

FAIL. The new iphone could have a bigger screen AND be the same size as 4/4s, just loose the ridiculous bezel! For goodness sakes, PLEASE don't waist space with a stupid bezel! If apple releases another phone with 2 inches of wasted bezel space on the top and bottom I'm done. It's not necessary!

That would be entertaining, 1 story every 3 weeks or so when pod2g tweets an update. Unfortunately hacking these days takes just a while longer than it used to.

Ah very good point. This wouldn't be much help for the Elevation Dock though... Putting an adapter cable inside a dock defeats the purpose of the dock all together, but it would definitely help pretty much every other accessory.

I hope that it wont have that nasty ass black silver back because that was a nasty color to be put together & for the love of God give us better speakers for the iPhone like how the N95 had loud stereo speakers, loved that about that phone. An expensive phone should have better speakers as it contributes to music too!

That taller mockup looks retarded. Would be much better to just switch to capacative home button and extend the screen on top and bottom to gain the extra room. Also that metal back is hideous. Currently I don't have an iPhone, but I'd consider going with 4s, because a metal or plastic back is so ugly.

The above remark was to agree with Leroy Brown, I don't really like the how tall the new iphone looks like. I wish apple would also think of something else for us to use instead of the old home button.

What apple needs to do is make a 4.5 inch screen that has the same resolution as the ipad 1 and 2 so that the developers don’t have to work as hard to adjust their apps to the new specifications.
