Ugly, but...logical application of laws of optical physics. Good job : ).
BTW: This method could work also for an optical zoom!! You just need to assemble the lenses as for a telescope, instead as a microscope. -

The iPhone camera is mediocre at its roots. Mods are often welcomed but.. Why not just grab your Digital Camera? Many people have at least one DC in their family or so which outperforms the iPhone camera in every aspect??
I would love to see a mod if someone can solder a new camera onto the phone tho!

I believe most people don't want to carry around a bag full of different devices to use. The iPhone already combines your MP3 Player, phone, email, web surfing, and this is just a simple way to enhance the camera in a pinch, without needing to carry another camera. I applaud this. I recently picked up the Clarifi by Griffin, with a macro lans built into the case. The iPhone was fine for the majority of my general snap shots, and now with a macro lens, I've lessoned the need for a digital camera.
