Some developers have blamed it on the limitation of iPhone's SDK while others have been forced to release their iPhone apps unofficially because they have been rejected from the App Store....

Does qik save videos on the phone itself or only on the site u stream it to?

Qik streams the videos live from your iPhone to the web, it does not save the videos locally.
If you are looking for app that saves the videos locally then you might want to checkout Cycorder but you need to jailbreak your iPhone to install it. You can checkout this post for all the details:

I knew about cycoder bc i unlocked and jail-broke my gf's 1st gen iphone for t-mobile, but i hope the App store version of qik allows u to save video onto the device as well. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Thanks anyways. =)
