Apple Censoring The Word 'Jailbreak' in The US iTunes Store [Updated]
Shoutpedia reports that Apple has started censoring the work "jailbreak" from the iTunes Store, which was first noticed by iOS hacker - planetbeing.
It looks like Apple is currently filtering the word "jailbreak" only in the U.S. iTunes Store.
Most occurrences of "jailbreak" is being censored to "j*******k" across all content types including including Apps, songs, albums, podcast episodes, and iTunes U episodes.

After all this time, they want to censor the word "jailbreak"? Seems kinda silly for Apple. Especially considering how long it's been possible to jailbreak your phone. Maybe they will stumble upon the Zeppelin category in Cydia next. All references to Zeppelin censored? This could go on for a while. Maybe Apple was just doing a test run for some new software to do who knows what and the censoring will disappear.

Apple has not yet learned that censorship creates more interest in an item which is censored by bringing more attention to it. History shows that more people will read the book, watch movie or in this case, want to know more about jailbreaks because of censorship.

Thats why they censor jailbreak.... every time they look at the word it reminds them that they never came up with it and there not as cool as they think...

Totally silly on Apple's part. And they are not even consistent (as of this writing) since searching for "Jailbreak" in iTunes returns many hits with the word uncensored. Meanwhile, the words "****" and "Pussy" are uncensored. (Not that I think they should be). Quite frankly it's not silly; it's down right STUPID!

I'm thinking Apple is doing this to get some free publicity, after all, I am sure that it will hit the news sooner or later.

i just went on iTunes and typed "jailbreak"....nothing was censored....all of Thin Lizzy's Jailbreak info showed up as well as other "jailbreak" titles.

Just tried a search on iTunes from costa rica on my iPhone, and word jailbreak appeared uncensored...

The name will have to be changed maybe dissband from apple device
