"something seems to have gone wrong; trying to recover"iPad2+3G; 5.1.1 9B206. Backed up my ipad and erased everything. Hit the Jailbreak button. Ipad says "restore complete" then reboots. See the message "slide to unlock" on ipad and I slide. Absinthe says "waiting for process to complete..." and stays like that for a few minutes.Then Absinthe gives the message "Hm...something seems to have gone wrong...trying to recover"any ideas?Thanks!

just use Absinthe 2.0 is works for all ipods iphones and ipad and is easy

When everything was done and it said slide to unlock I did that then I clicked cydia and it said restoring files so I waited but once it was done my iPod turned off so I turned it back on and I couldn't locate cydia. Please someone help me

guys, i know how to do it , trust mewaste a little bit time to restore again , i know it annoy1 . restore again ( dun lazy )2. once done , don,t touch anything but absinthe only3. click jailbreak4.work ?

never mind, i worked it through, just go to options and erase all settings, and that did it for me :P

do you do a DFU-mode restore - or a regular restore from iTunes?

For anyone with the "hmm something seems to have gone wrong" problem:It happened with my iPad 2 Wi-Fi. I solved it by:1. Restauring to 5.1.1;2. Loading my iPad backup3. Running the jailbreak.Took 2 minutes for it to complete, without erasing any settings. :)

If you keep getting that you need to put your device in dfu mode and reinstall 5.1.1 after that rejailbreak it with Absinthe. That's what i had to do to make it work for me

got it working!1 - go to http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html and type in your serial number to get the ipad version (turns out I have an ipad2,2)2 - download the firmware from http://www.ijailbreak.com/news/download-ios-5-1-1-firmware-apple/. Firmware for ipad2,2 was a monster 737mb3 - I didn't erase my ipad - but I did make a backup (just in case...) In iTunes, hold the shift-key down and click "restore". Select the .ipsw file you downloaded in step 2. I was on 5.1.1, and re-applied 5.1.1.4 - once firmware reflash is complete use absinthe. While jailbreaking, don't worry if the screen goes off (I didn't slide to unlock or anything - just left the ipad alone)

All i've had were issues with this. It finally got done installing the jailbreak but Cydia crashes when it is preparing the filesystem and then I have only Youtube on my Springboard.

I assume you are on Windows (where that would make sense) but I have the same problem with OSX. I'll update folks after I try one of the suggestions below. I think "erasing all data" is what caused the problem. Going to restore from backup first and then run the jailbreak.

this finally worked for me. as i say above, you should restore your backup *before* doing the jailbreak. otherwise it doesn't work (or it didn't for me at least).

Worked like a charm for my ipod 3g, so so easy. Just one problem, when i tried with an ipod 4g it didn't recognise it. Is this a bug?

Has anyone managed to install "****" application using Cydia? Apparently cydia can't install **** or **** application. I have managed to jailbreak Ipad3 and successfully install Cydia but without App Installer it is not very useful.

i have winrar, i guess everyone does? idk. do i double click on the application in winrar? ive done that maybe 3 times and when its finished i dont get a new folder or shortcut.i have windowsi dont even see "run as administrator" am i even making sense? im usually not this stupid with computers but i have no idea what im doing right now
