Leaked Schematic of Next-Gen iPhone's Front Panel Reveals 4-Inch Display With 16:9 Aspect Ratio
Schematic of the rumored next generation iPhone with a 4-inch screen appears to have been leaked to various blogs like iLab and Cydia Blog. The schematic shows measurements of various components found on the iPhone's front panel including the the widely rumored larger display.
The "active area mask," or the portion which houses the display, measures 3.55 inches vertically and 2.02 inches horizontally, according to the schematic.

4" great! But, taller instead of wider, big mistake. I can't type on a screen that's so small horizontally.

Taller means less wasted space when playing 16:9 content, which is good.The same width means that apps which scroll longwise can get away without any major UI redesign, whilst legacy apps can be pillarboxed.At the end of the day, though, is it all really worth it for less than ten percent more pixels? The absolute increase is smaller than a candy cigarette or an AAA battery.

Next gen. iPhone after this one probably will be wider. Just my thoughts.

Headphone jack on the bottom? Deal breaker for me... Sticking with 4s for now.. Fast enough and won't switch to android

First rule when dealing with drawings - do not scale! With that in mind there is no proof of anything without dimensions.

The blueprint does have dimensions called out. Plus all blueprints call out what scale it is drawn at. Just saying, no offense meant.

Love the idea of a larger screen, just not a larger phone. Especially since the physical size of the phone doesn't need to increase to accommodate a 4" display.

They should make it a bit wider and the headphone jack at the bottom is a horrible idea, if these leaks are real don't u find it funny thier so much getting out ? It's probably apple trying to get feed back before the finalize thier decision

Blueprints are not drawn at any scale, except as a convenience for the reader. If a dimension is not given, it is unknown. Historically this was because the paper could change size depending on the humidity and its treatment, but the practice has gone on for so long that it's fundamental to technical drawing, and encapsulated in the phrase "do not scale".Never measure from a technical drawing. If a measurement is needed but not given, send it back to the engineer.

What on earth difference does it make where the headphone jack is?If you're using the headphones, the device is in your pocket, and if it's in your pocket you're using the headphone wart, and if you're using the headphone wart, what does it matter what way round the device is?Headphone port will be inaccessible when docked, but that's what the dock is for. It's already on the bottom on the iPod Touch 4.What possible difference can it make being on one end or the other?

i want a circular screen. This is stupid. Even a sphere would be beter. Also it has no buttons???? how can you may a call with no buttons? and no antenna. My old phone even has a pull out antenna, this is ugly.

I think it is fake. like if apple wants to protect their IP so much, would they make blueprints? I would think that would have been all digital, and all access to those controlled and people wouldn't be able to download / print a copy.

I'm not sure how I feel about a taller phone. I like the 4/4s form factor now. A bigger screen would be nice if they could somehow do it in a similar form factor. 16:9 just seems awfully long for a phone.

I must admit, I am an apple fan boi to an extreme. If they put the headphone jack on the bottom, I will conform to the apple goodness. I will not be happy about it, but largely I use a stereo bluetooth headset so it is somewhat of a non-issue. In the off chance that I use the wired headset, I will have to reconfigure but that may be in order anyway with the new form factor.
