Rumor: Apple Working on Standalone Point-And-Shoot iSight Camera
iLounge reports that according to their source, Apple may be working on a standalone point-and-shoot camera.
In the New iPad Buyer's guide published by iLounge earlier this week, they briefly mentioned the possibility of Apple launching a point-and-shoot iSight camera.
But at that time, iLounge had noted that it was a mere speculation as they didn't feel confident enough in their source. Here's an excerpt from the New iPad Buyer's Guide:

No way! I can see him re-invent it, but using and iPhone or iPod. the 4s already takes insane pictures, so drop more technology there and it will be even more. why split something that they spent years putting together ?

well maybe the iphone takes good pictures, but it can def be improved. there def not show quality.

I didn't buy an iphone for the camera alone. If I had wanted a professional grade camera I would have bought a Canon. Apple has no advantage in the standalone camera market, besides why would anyone in their right mind pay the extra premium. Apple excels at finely tune software, bundled with hardware. There's not much of a demand for souped up software on a digital camera. Whats the point?
