I have updated my iPod 4 without the dev account and I was able to downgrade back to 5.1.1
The only problem is that I couldn't activate it.

I upgraded last night on my iPhone 4s and kept getting an error saying 'Device Not Registered'
I have it registered in my dev account but just couldn't get it to work.
I enter into dfu mode and successfully reinstalled iOS 5.1.1 through iTunes ;-) -
@PappaCanoos it looks like quite a few developers are hitting the issue. It could be due to the surge in activations after Apple released the iOS 6 beta. Some developers have reported that putting the device in DFU and reinstalling iOS 6 Beta solves the problem for them. We'll let you know if we find a solution.

same "Device not registered" issue here, no solution yet

It worked perfectly the first time I tried with my 4S. The maps app looks really good!
-
Had the same issue with my 4s not being registered. It took about an hour for it to get activated but now its working... Love iOS6 so far.

-
@asimpwz you should not install ios 6 if you depend on hardware or software unlocking solutions
-
Tim: What steps did you take to get it working?

If someone wants to see a screenshot I have made from the city I live in with Apple's Maps
This is from Copenhagen Denmark

Hey @Chuckie you can attach files to the comment using "Attach a file" option ... we've updated your comment to embdd the image ... 3D Maps look awesome!
-
Cool thanks for the info! :o)

I'll try it again tonight. Does anyone know of any apps that will definitely not work on ios6 ?
-
Well it worked like a charm for me on Ipad 3 Wifi & 4G . on itunes 10.6.1.
Maps are a bit buggy (Crushes on Search and does not remember previous position.
Siri works like a charm and Yes U.K locations are included in Siri (I heard from Iphone 4S users that it would work for locations). Also you can ask Siri to run applications.
Facebook integration adds pictures to your current contacts which pretty good!
AppStore a bit slow but its layout is better than the previous one.
I heard a rumour about deleting default applications but i couldn't do it. -
same "Device not registered" issue here, no solution yet

IT's Shift+ Left Click for Windows 7

I'm so confused. The file I downloaded from the dev center is a dmg file, not an ipsw. Where is the ipsw??
-
@shimmb dmg files are disk images. To open a disk image, you just double click on it. The image mounts as a new volume on your desk top. This usually looks like a white hard drive. You can then double click this virtual drive itself to open its contents (.ipsw in this case) in a new Finder window. Copy .ipsw file from the disk image by dragging them to your desktop or to your folders or simply use the finder to find the .ipsw file.

Right, so I tried with my iPad (3rd gen) and got that working after a few hours of waiting for the activation server to come online again. Works fine. Maps a bit buggy and slow but not found anything that breaks yet. Facebook address integration working. Will try on my phone again later but I need it to be working today!

Im thinking about upgrading my iPad 3 Wifi+4G to iOS 6.
However I'm not sure which ipsw to use. When I visit Apples Dev site I can pick between AT&T or Verizon.
The thing is that I live in Denmark so we don't have any of them here.
When I upgraded my iPhone 4S to iOS 6 it worked with no problems but there was also just one file to download.
Does anyone have any suggestions about which to pick?
Right now I'm thinking about AT&T but I'm not sure... -
@Chuckie guess you could try AT&T first
-
I will give AT&T a try after work, thanks!
-
I tried it myself but cannot seem to understand where to find the ios6/DMG/ipsw file in iTunes. Messed up my itunes now and I cannot even backup or restore my iPhone/PC big fail.

my phone keeps saying
"this device is not registered as a part of the iphone development program.
@url@@."
how comes it doesn't work??
any help on trying to fix this..
or going back to the other ios 5.1.1

thanks -
