Or, for that matter if you want to exchange messages with people, and you do NOT want them to have your phone number?
Sending messages to phone numbers is something from the bad old days when the telco's controlled everything. Free us from phone numbers. let it work on ipods, PC's, and other devices with no phone numbers. Forcing people to use phone number as an ID sucks. -

I used the paid version of whatsapp, it's really superb app for a chat. And now it's free for some day, it's good news for iPhone apps lovers.
