Sprint roaming on Verizon

Ok, I loaded a custom PRL and have tethered about 35GB (from what my phone is telling me). I check Sprints website and counter for roaming does not seem to be going up. I am doing this for Sprint to cancel my contract (due to the ridiculous speeds and unfortunate waste of time I spend looking for a wifi spot to find an address or whatever).
I have 3 questions and they are as follows:
1. Does tethering work to build up the roaming data?
2. Do I have to tether via Wifi? (Connect my PC to iPhone wirelessly)
3. Do I have to use the phone to stream Netflix or make downloads to help?
I'd really appreciate if someone who has done this before can answer.
