Jail Break iPad 1 with redan0w

I went through all the steps on the site to jailbrake my iPad 1 it rebooted at the end however the Cydia idcon is white and when I click on it does nothing. Also nothing mirrors on my extra vga monitor after connecting with the apple vga adapter.
What have I done wrong here?
