Hi,
New here, so go easy!! ;-)
Just got an iPhone 5 after having the 3gs for some time.
I’ve managed to get my iTunes purchased music onto my iPhone via my library, but I can’t get my "cd imported" music off of my iPhone 3gs into iTunes and onto my iPhone 5.
I have a new laptop also, so the laptop i originally used to import my cd's is no longer alive!
I did back up my whole iTunes from my old laptop onto an external drive....however it was encrypted (work laptop and I didn’t know!) So the whole library is stuck on my drive and 3gs but not accessible.
All very frustrating.
Any help would be appreciated
cheers

One easy but a little expensive solution would be to use iTunes Match to scan your music content, so you can access it from your iPhone 5 via iCloud.

ok, thanks ill look into that.

Having read about iTunes match, it seems that its working from your Library. The issue I have is that my songs are "trapped" on my iPhone 3 device. I’m trying to get them into my Library, but the problem (I’m being told by Apple) is that you can only sync one way i.e. Library to device not vice versa....

Manual job:
- Use iphonebrowser or Iphoneexplorer and locate your musics files on your 3G.
- Copy the files over to your your pc (don't worry about the random filenames).
- Drop these files into your itunes (the IDV tags will show correct song names).
- Now you can synch the songs like normal.
