Tried to jailbreak with Evasion on my iphone 5 and was told by the install that I needed to remove backup passwords in iTunes. I know what my password is. I can change my password. But it wont let me unselect the box. Now what do I do so I may continue with the jailbreak.

You need to unselect the encrypt iPhone backup option in iTunes and you will be able to do it only on the computer you sync your iPhone with.

You can remove encrypted iPhone backup password with pro tool - iPhone Backup Unlocker!

I shouldnt have to by software/apps to change settings on my own phone.
I am not allowed to select/uncheck the box for 'encrypt backup passwords'. its is shaded out. And I am using the same computer for all my syncing.iPhoneHacks said:You need to unselect the encrypt iPhone backup option in iTunes and you will be able to do it only on the computer you sync your iPhone with.

There is some form of profile you installed that forces encryption on your backup. Quite possibly work email - Exchange service can do this.
Easiest method is delete the profile from your settings. Unplug and re-plug cable so itunes re-detects the phone etc.
This of course means you will need to re-install the profile after you JB. -

Doesn't matter that you are out of contract or not. Your iPhone is carrier locked to the carrier you originally bought it from. ONLY that original carrier can officially unlock it. When you hacked the phone to use it overseas, it reverts back to the carrier locked status anytime you update the iOS.
You need to contact the carrier it is locked to and ask them about unlocking - ONLY they can initiate an official and thus permanent unlock (note that not all carriers will unlock, and if that is the case for you, you are out of luck).
