Is iPhone 3G at 4.2.1 upgradable to iOS 6?

Newbie here. got a 3G iPhone from my son unlocked and jb. Is it upgradable to iOS6? Worthy of upgrading and how to upgrade, thanks.

    iphone 3gs is supported anything lower is not supported to tell if the phone is a 3g or a 3gs look at the text at the bottom of the phone if it is shiny it is a 3gs if it is gray like it is a 3g if you can't tell look at the model number a 3gs is A1303 but the 3g is not the same.
